Budget Analyst
Central Office, Waco, TX
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to assist and facilitate the budget process for the Brazos River Authority (BRA) and to track budget performance during the year. This is accomplished by assisting with budget preparation, creating and monitoring the annual operating plan; preparing and reviewing monthly budget reports, researching budget variances; assisting with the preparation of quarterly budget reports to the Board of Directors, coordinating invoices with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and presenting budget information to outside customers. In addition, this position also preserves and verifies the accuracy of financial transactions by assisting in general ledger maintenance, performing timely financial system closes, assisting various departments and performing other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Individual must be detail oriented, with excellent computer skills. The successful applicant must be proficient with MS Excel, and have accounting software experience. Work requires ability to read manuals, contracts and instructions,; ability to work with numbers and perform simple math functions; practical application of fractions, percentages, and ability to write e-mails, prepare business letters, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Knowledge of accounting and administrative functions and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency with some college coursework is preferred or an equivalent combination of experience.
SALARY: $20.20 to $25.75 per hour. This is a non-exempt position.

BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY: The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
