McLane developing a unique set of early-stage initiatives growing services related to eCommerce. These include a business-to-business website and ecommerce fulfillment solution providing consumer brands and retailers including convenience stores, mass merchants, drug stores and chain restaurants ways to reduce cost and serve customers in an omni channel environment.

  • This position will lead partnership and business development for McLane eCommerce Fulfillment solutions.

The Business Development role requires a hands-on, results oriented individual who is detail oriented, analytical, a great communicator, and able to work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions while working cross-organizationally to build consensus. The candidate has strong business acumen as well as a deep technical understanding that enables them to easily interact with software and program development. They possess a track record of establish new business via focused entrepreneurial thinking and then scalable broad partnerships.

Essential Job Functions/Principal Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate and understand competitor strengths, weaknesses, financials, technology, new initiatives, and limitations within their defined territory.
  • Perform sales and purchasing trend analysis from multiple data sources
  • Provide insights on competitive environment, brand growth initiatives, business outlook and potential threats.
  • Work cross-functionally with tech team, buyers, sales, marketing, PMO, pricing, professional services and leadership, to present new business ideas/prospects and opportunities of business growth & expansion
  • Build and implement business development plans that defines new service priorities, ensuring they are well aligned across McLane and go to market goals (customers, sales, gross margin) are achieved
  • Sell new business solutions to small and large enterprise customers, designing mutually beneficial, scalable programs.
  • Provide analysis for developing resource allocations, competitive analysis, pricing strategy and overall business analysis
  • Build initiatives ground up with qualitative and quantitative analyses, with strategic planning and roadmap
  • Communicate the impact of promotions, and commodity trends.
  • Develop marketing strategies to gain and harvest high lifetime value customers
  • Design sales and marketing tools to enhance growth opportunities and increase product penetration.
  • Develop processes to insure accurate and timely setup of new accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in B2B strategy, business development, customer service or retail/vendor/supplier management
  • Professional presence and relationship building skills.
  • Highly motivated, possess a strong sense of ownership
  • Experience with sales enablement activities ideally in the cold chain logistics space
  • Proven track record of creating scalable, large-scale initiatives and with quantifiable results
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as required

This is a hybrid remote position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office on bi-monthly basis, or more frequently, such as in the event of a department-wide meeting, depending on business necessity. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 2-hour commute to Temple, TX.
