The Sr Engineer, IT Enterprise Operations will be part of an industry leading IT team working in a fast-paced environment at Pacific Dental Services. Under the guidance of the Sr. Mgr., Enterprise Operations, this individual will be responsible for day-to-day tasks functioning primarily as mid to upper tier support through all phases of project and hardware lifecycle.
The Sr Engineer, Network is also responsible for all aspects of the enterprise end-to-end network performance, with specific emphasis on ensuring efficient, reliable application and system services delivery to all constituents in the organization. Participate in architecture reviews with IT groups, ensure supportability requirements and standards are followed Develop new standards to maintain or improve stability and scalability of the current network environment with specific considerations to sustainability and future-proof design Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for network and system administration tasks.
Identify approaches that leverage existing resources and provide economies of scale Author documents that improve governance and librarianship with network-related architectures Skilled in determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes Daily maintenance and administration of various systems such as core network, wireless, and remote office network infrastructures, in both production and development environments. Resolve or report critical issues to the Sr. Mgr, Enterprise Operations for resolution Provide intermediate and advanced tier support for troubleshooting various network, application and systems.
Support all networking hardware Install new and configure existing hardware in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements Contribute to and maintain system standards Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of network- related scheduled jobs Perform network-related data backups and disaster recovery operations Repair and recover from hardware, software, or circuit failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies General support of production systems as required Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities according to defined policies and standards Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required Ability to mentor junior- and intermediate-level network administrators and engineers in all aspects of network design, operations, deployment, documentation and standards Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications. Bachelor (4-year) degree with a technical major such as engineering or computer science (or equivalent education and applicable work experience).
In lieu of degree, +2 years of professional experience is required 10+ years of network administration experience CCNP/JNCIP/JNCIS or relevant experience Advanced experience with Firewall, Routing, Switching technologies (eg, Juniper SRX and EX series products) Experience with SDWAN technologies (eg Velo Cloud) Knowledge of POTS, DS1/T1, Fiber, GigE and 10GigE, VoIP, SIP. Knowledge of OSI Model, IP addressing, subnetting, VLAN, routing. Knowledge of 802.11x, 802.1x, RF design. Experience with routers, layer 2 and layer 3 switches.
Experience with Spanning Tree, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, iBGP, MPLS and VPN technologies Experience with wireless networking, RF and heat mapping tools. Advanced experience with packet capture and analysis, span/mirror port strategy and related network monitoring tools Knowledge of enterprise wireless technologies and security Strong skills in communication, both written and verbal. Strong skills troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed (For change control(s) and or on an occasional emergency). Preferred.
Experience administering a distributed enterprise network, hosts and devices in excess of a few hundred sites Knowledge of load balancers and firewalls (ex. NetScaler's). Experience in various Network CLI languages such as Cisco, Juniper, HP. Experience working with Wireshark, and other network troubleshooting tools Experience working with Juniper Networks SRX and EX.
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls Experience Aruba Airwave, Central, and ClearPass. Experience with large-scale network upgrade projects with national distribution Experience with network-oriented enterprise storage solutions (iSCSI, FCoE). AWS Associate level certification.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities. Ability to multi-task effectively without compromising the quality of the work Network Monitoring (ability to build and report network metrics - (traps/SNMPv3 monitoring/trend analysis/performance of network equipment).
