IT Support Senior Technician - TTU DFW Site in Irving Dallas/Ft. Worth 33229BR Off Campus Educational Sites Position Description The Senior IT Support Technician has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas.
This position's scope of responsibility includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of hardware and some software support and maintenance. The Senior IT Support Technician will also specialize in hardware and software that support institutional strategic initiatives, and manage area or unit IT projects that impact multiple departments or units. Major/Essential Functions Assists central IT management with technology strategic planning, technology selection, and capital replacement planning.
Provides the expert level of technical knowledge and experience in IT Support for the organization. Supervises and/or manages team members and/or project leads that: Primarily provide institutional hardware and some software support and maintenance, including, but not limited to, desktops, printers, lab equipment, etc. Provide complex hardware and some software projects and resources that impact multiple departments or units.
Troubleshoots complex hardware and some software problems, interfacing with area and unit IT professionals. Specializes in advanced technology that that supports institutional strategic initiatives. Adheres to all appropriate Institutional policies (including IT Ops) and other relevant internal departmental policies.
Provide technical and network support for all staff, students and faculty; provide training and troubleshooting as needed. Maintain communications with TTU staff, faculty and students regarding the operational status of classrooms and equipment; implement and support distance learning management protocols and equipment for classes originated at assigned regional sites. Oversee the use and maintenance of computer labs and videoconferencing classrooms; supervise, configure and maintain all computer peripherals, including copiers, printers, scanners, monitors, TVs and projectors.
Make recommendations for IT upgrades, purchase and install approved items in coordination with the TTU IT Division and the other regional sites; maintain the inventory of technologies for assigned sites. Provide other administrative support, including assisting with the maintenance of the van and mileage log; other duties as assigned. Assist with any other relevant activities as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to: exercise judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities; plan and organize effectively, prioritize goals, use time efficiently, and stay on task; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective work relationships. Expert analytical skills, including process description, logic, problem diagnostics, and problem solving. Expert technology hardware and software competency.
Training in advanced hardware, software, and customer support through education or experience. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus seven years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Desktop Support Certifications, Mac experience and/or any other training or certifications related to technology services. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Should have technical and computer background, supervisory skills and experience, excellent interpersonal skills and be service oriented. Be a customer advocate, ability to establish a plan of action, prioritize and execute assigned tasks effectively.
