The Global Communications team is responsible for telling the story of how Coursera is shaping the future of work and education, and transforming lives through access to high-quality, job-relevant education. The team is a nimble, high-impact, and globally-distributed group that works with key business stakeholders and cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to tell the right stories to the right audiences at the right time.

As the PR Manager for Institutions (Businesses, Governments, Campuses), you will be responsible for managing and supporting a full range of enterprise PR initiatives, including product and partnership announcements, bylines and thought leadership, speaking opportunities, and supporting collaboration efforts with global coalitions. Reporting to the Director of Global Communications, Institutions, you will help shape U.S. and global conversations about creating equal access to opportunity in the digital economy, cross-sector collaboration, and the future of work and education.

You will manage day-to-day PR activities for marquee announcements and proactive storytelling including media strategy, asset development, spokesperson preparation, and agency management - in close coordination with C-suite leadership, cross-functional partners, external partners, and regional communications leads to extend global stories to countries around the world. The role is fully-remote and US-based - you will have global access to WeWork and occasional travel for events and tours may be required.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, fast learner and self-starter, and well-connected strategic communications pro with technology comms experience and a track record of building relationships with key U.S. national and business media that lead to high-impact results. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Coursera's mission and exceptional writing, communication, multi-tasking, and collaboration skills.

As a key member of the global comms team, you will be integrated into many of our strategic initiatives, with active hands-on experience and participation in high visibility projects. You will also be responsible for building a roster of key media relationships that are critical to telling our stories.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day PR strategy for the companys enterprise offerings - Coursera for Campus, Government, and Coursera for Business; thoughtfully communicate Coursera's leadership role in equipping these institutions with skills for their talent to navigate the digital transformation we're experiencing today.
  • Develop PR assets such as press releases, blog posts, speeches, and briefing notes for major government and campus launches, business partnership announcements, customer momentum blog posts, product news, and other country-specific events through a clear and concise writing style.
  • Manage agencies and partner with regional communications leads for key U.S., global, and regional launches, setting press goals and driving global coverage for various announcements.
  • Grow the thought leadership program by driving keynotes, data reports, awards, and opinion articles in priority markets with great proactivity and creative thinking.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify customer case studies for PR usage and secure business, government or university participation in initiatives such as events and briefings.
  • Coordinate initiatives with reputable partners like the World Economic Forum, the World Bank, and UNESCO.
  • Assist with implementation of a robust enterprise focused analysts relations program

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in technology PR, a combination of both agency and in-house experience
  • Business writing skills and creative flair, including demonstrated history of using data and insights to power thought leadership and media conversations
  • Business project and global agency management skills, with a track record for developing trusted relationships with reporters
  • Experience coordinating PR campaigns and working cross-functionally with other teams
  • Ability to manage senior executives and engage in the strategic planning process of campaigns

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education/edtech/B2B SaaS or government PR
  • Working for leading tech companies and top-tier PR firms
  • Experience coordinating launches with markets outside the U.S.
  • Passion for technology driven solutions to solve global and community challenges and for lifelong learning

Compensation

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $92,000 and $200,000 for all US candidates. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
