Bell is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Manager, AVLS Flight Test Instrumentation and Data Systems to join Bell's Advanced Vertical Lift Systems team.
This position will oversee instrumentation and data system requirements for Bell Helicopter's Advanced Vertical Lift Systems, to include direction on system design and technical requirements, system configuration and documentation management, program scheduling, reporting of performance metrics to program leadership, and performance evaluations of Engineering and Technician personnel. This position is based at Bell Textron's Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX facility. Position Responsibilities:.
Manage the Flight Test Instrumentation and Data Operations personnel in the accomplishment of all tasks required in support of the FLRAA and FARA programs Contribute to the Instrumentation and Data Operations team though continuous learning and innovative ideas to advance technology, improve efficiency, and reduce overall cost and schedule Support and lead responses to critical instrumentation or data system failures effecting conduct of test operations Identify potential issues early, efficiently resolve problems and incorporate risk mitigation planning Provide work instructions, direction and support for maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading all related instrumentation and data systems Manage documentation including updates to procedures, distribution of meeting notes, metric reporting, use of reporting tools, distribution of schedule updates/status and maintain proper instrumentation configuration documents Maintain proficiency in the use of specialized Bell developed software applications for instrumentation and data systems Ensure data is accurate and complete Focus on safety in every area of Flight Test Instrumentation and Flight Test Data Operations Responsible for technical performance, cost, and schedule of instrumentation and data tasks Effectively interface and communicate with Verification Manager, Test and Evaluation Manager, Chief Engineer, Program Manager, Core Team, product IPT's, and other site and functional leaders on matters related to instrumentation and data requirements and support Travel as needed between the various manufacturing (Amarillo) and test sites (Arlington) facilities (up to 25% anticipated). Education Requirements: Associate degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar discipline is preferred. Experience in related fields will also be considered in lieu of a degree. Basic Requirements:.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, development and testing of aerospace/defense Flight Test Instrumentation or Data Operations systems. o Experience in creating and reviewing flight test instrumentation electrical drawings and procedures. o Experience with the different types, use and implementation of the standard suite of flight test sensors.
o Engineering background with sufficient technical acumen to work with subject matter experts to establish design requirements and oversee technical aspects of the projects. o Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidiscipline support functions to include engineering disciplines (manufacturing, procurement, finance, IT, technical publications, customer support, integrated operations, quality, contracts), customers, suppliers and partners in various locations 2 years of demonstrated leadership abilities Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
