Job Location Austin, TX
What you will be doing: - Develop engineering requirements based on regulatory requirements and work closely with all engineering teams to develop compliant products
- Provide technical support to the engineering teams according to the requirements and guidelines outlined in the regulations
- Responsible for creating the test plans as per EPA and CARB regulatory requirements
- Work closely with OBD engineers to ensure test completeness, accuracy, and compliance to testing regulations
- Review OBD field demonstration test data to ensure integrity and completeness, and prepare official reports for the regulators
- Manage and document OBD-related running changes to the product in the field per regulatory requirements
- Compile documentation for emissions related systems and components, and OBD monitors
- Support compliance activities that include but are not limited to In Use Testing (IUT), Manufacturer Self-Test (MST), In Use Monitor Performance Ratio (IUMPR)
- Engage with validation teams and support Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing, engine dynamometer emissions testing, OBD monitor demonstration testing, data collection and analysis
- Lead the discussions with regulators at CARB and EPA
- Provide inputs to the simulation teams on the drive cycles as per regulatory requirements
- Review industry and legal documents for issues relevant to the company, summarizing such documents for efficient communication to the organization
- Create and present reports with documentation of technical analysis
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the following areas: - Complete understanding of Diesel/CNG engines, combustion systems and exhaust aftertreatment systems on Class 8 Trucks
- Understanding of powertrain systems including ICE, hybrid, and full electric
- Prior experience on Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing and data analysis
- Prior experience in full hybrid vehicle/conventional powertrain certification programs
- Working knowledge of CFR title 40, Parts 1036 and 1037
- Understanding of the impact of hybrid powertrain design on the generation of CO2
- Understanding of the vehicle level design features and the impact they have on CO2 generation
- Expertise with Diesel and CNG emissions measurement from both engine dynamometer and chassis dynamometer testing
- Understanding of EPA 40 CFR Part 1065 and 1066 regulations with regards to facility, equipment, and testing procedures
- Good knowledge on Title 13 CCR Section 1971.1 CARB OBD Requirements
- Experience in requirement management and with requirements management software such as Jama

What you'll need to be successful: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 4+ Years of Experience in relevant engineering roles
- Experience leading technical projects including managing schedules and setting key project tasks/milestones
