IT Project Manager (Remote)

CNO Financial Group's IT Business Unit is hiring an IT-Project Manager to be responsible for leading and handling the outcomes of medium and large complex projects with multiple work streams. This role coordinates, supports, and drives all aspects of projects from concept through implementation and warranty support, ensuring governance process consistency, project continuity while managing expectations of the partner. The Project Manager will serve as the face of the project working with various collaborators to ensure alignment of expectations during various phases of a project life cycle (initiation, planning, execution, control and closing).

As an IT-Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead multiple concurrent complex, and cross functional projects with a global delivery team. This position drives business value by collaborating across several business and IT teams to deliver the desired outcome as defined in the project charter
  • Develops and reports on project budget, schedule, and delivery performance metrics (ex. scope, schedule, spend, quality, etc.)
  • Coordinates with stakeholders for requirement definition, monitors project implementation, represents project needs to the Architecture Review Board (ARB), Change Approval Board (CAB), Release Management gates, etc.
  • Develops project level artifacts such as project plan, budget, requirements traceability matrix, scope management plan, risk/issue management plan, communication plan, resource management plan especially related to onboarding/offboarding ensuring effective utilization of resources on the team
  • Nurture and maintain relationships with key business and IT partners, vendors, and suppliers
  • Drive high level sizing estimates for complex projects with sometimes incomplete requirements and identify assumptions, if any
  • Reports delivery performance metrics against financial parameters, project health/status reporting (ex. weekly status report, monthly governance reports, executive dashboard reports, etc.)
  • Ensure projects follow all established organizational policies, procedures, and standards including SDLC standards
  • Identify dependencies within the project and among concurrent projects

The IT-Project Manager position is well-suited for you if you have:

  • Solid knowledge of technical project management principles and practices
  • Good communication and negotiation skills that requires teamwork across a wide spectrum of cross-functional team members who work on often challenging priorities
  • Background in financial management and budgeting, procurement and contract negotiations relevant to the project
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams both on-shore and off-shore
  • The ability to work independently with limited mentorship to understand the business driver (ie, the why of a project), bring a curious approach to work, challenge the status quo when processes are antiquated and onerous that do not align with current business needs for agility

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field or five years relevant work experience as an equivalent
  • Project or Program Management certification
  • A solid ability to solve complex technical problems through methodical thinking, planning and resolution of issues faced by the team by working through obstacles, ability to influence and build consensus across technical teams
  • Experience working with virtual and global delivery teams building large enterprise, critically important systems

What will set you apart:

  • Scrum Master or equivalent certification in an Agile delivery model
  • Knowledge of Portfolio Management tool, JIRA, requirements management tool, Microsoft Office suite and other business-related software
  • Experience supervising progress of the delivery team to ensure they deliver within agreed upon deadlines and quality expectations
  • Prior insurance industry experience
