Performs entry-level administrative or technical support work. Workinvolves performing a wide range of administrative, technical, and/oroffice support work for the department.
Employees at this level performassignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequentreview by the immediate supervisor.Essential Duties:Answers thetelephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages,and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.Assists inmaintaining confidential information and records.
Assists in performinginventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.Assists in processingroutine documents such as vouchers, personnel records, titles orregistrations.Assists with general warehousing duties such as stockingand issuing materials and supplies, maintaining records, and maintainingwarehouse areas.
Disseminates information to the public.Maintains files,records, and logs.Maintains radio contact with field units andothers.
Makes copies and distributes as instructed.Provides routinetechnical assistance troubleshooting software and hardware problems(desktop support) as well as problems involving office equipment such asphones, printers, and fax machines; recognizes and escalates difficultproblems to a higher level of support.Sets up computers and other officeequipment for employees; installs standard software; ensures properinstallation of cables; and helps users resolve common hardware,software, and network connectivity issues.
Opens, sorts, and distributesmail.Performs preliminary research on assignments and gathers pertinentdata.Performs routine word processing duties and conducts quality checksof documents created.
Assists with updating computers and mainframeapplicationsAssists with performing backups and system cleanup and inhandling staff equipment issues and returns.Assists with maintainingcomputer and hardware inventory records for new and surplusequipment.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
