The Sr. Director, Global Event Operations will be responsible for the direction, production, and growth of SAP Concur's portfolio of global events and SMN level field events. SAP Concur's portfolio of events are positioned to help generate, accelerate and close pipeline; create customer loyalty and drive renewals; as well as position the SAP Concur brand in-line with the organizational business strategy. This role will also be responsible for establishing a scalable operating model, building best-in-class events, and managing a large team of event professionals.

The Sr. Director, Global Event Operations will be adept at shifting from the strategic to the tactical aspects of exposition and conference management. This role will collaborate with the executive leadership team as well as clients, vendors, and partners to execute best-in-class and scalable events. Strategic vision, insightful resource management, relationship-building skills, and strong collaboration skills will be key aspects of the job.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, possesses sound judgment, and has experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders across the globe. This position requires a strategic people manager with experience working in a matrixed organization, and the ability to develop relationships with teams and leaders throughout the company.

Responsibilities:

  • D irect and manage the execution of SAP Concur's corporate customer events, industry tradeshows, and field-level customer events.
  • Act as Executive Producer for the planning of the show experience, related programming, and overall operations.
  • Establish a scalable operating model to drive process efficiencies and simplification, to multiply existing best practices, and to foster a culture of trust and transparency
  • Establish and manage execution standards for live and digital global and field-level events,. Including aligning planning with SAP event portfolios.
  • Engage with front-line SAP Concur leaders and clients to identify new strategic initiatives that reinforce the relevance and importance of our events.
  • Work with global cross-functional teams to identify event strategies that align to regional or BU priorities.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop keynote speeches and/or themes for Tier 1 corporate events
  • Project manage the search, selection, and confirmation of all main stage speakers (Internal; Customer; & External)
  • Lead external keynote selection process, including contract negotiation and execution
  • Explore new opportunities for trade show and conference design and growth; stay abreast of trends.
  • Align with key stakeholders to ensure the events portfolio is relevant, significant and representative of SAP Concur values.
  • Develop an overall content strategy and syndication model based on in-year messaging and corporate campaigns for ALL SAP Concur events that will ensure a consistent, global message.
  • Partner with parallel work streams (Events; Audience Acquisition; Field Marketing; Social Media & Digital, others) to translate and integrate content strategy into overall integrated event campaign to engage attendees and drive registration

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 10 years of experience directing major conferences and events
  • Track record in management and expansion of mature conferences
  • Exposure to independent trade show environments preferred
  • Familiarity with the technology sector
  • Experience producing and analyzing ROI metrics

  • Exceptional relationship management skills to establish rapport, trust and confidence with key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to identify strategic needs, develop recommendations, and lead growth.
  • Professional network and vendor connections to contribute to process development and improved solutions.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding and management skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and to travel to key event programs.
